Magna Procession of Seville 2024: The climax of the II International Congress of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods
The city of Seville is preparing for an extraordinary event that will remain engraved in the memory of its inhabitants and visitors: the Magna Procession in December 2024. This great service will mark the closing of the II International Congress of Brotherhoods and GuildsThe event brings together scholars, devotees and curious onlookers around popular religiosity and its multiple manifestations. For almost 40 consecutive hours, the city will witness a series of unique processions, with some of Seville's most venerated images, which will travel through the main streets of the centre, creating an unparalleled experience of devotion and fervour.

Popular Religiosity in Action
The main focus of the congress, which will culminate in this procession, will be the study and reflection on the popular piety. Seville, with its rich tradition of brotherhood, is an ideal epicentre for this type of analysis, but there is no theory without practice: fervour is experienced in the streets, amidst the murmur of a crowd or the reverent silence as an image passes by. The Magna will therefore be a living expression of what the conference papers seek to unravel: the intimate relationship between the people and their devotions.
A Shared Devotion
This unprecedented event will bring together the most venerated images from Seville and its province, highlighting the richness and diversity of the Andalusian faith. Among the protagonists of the procession will be the Our Lady of the Kingspatron saint of Seville and its archdiocese; the Great Powerknown as the "Lord of Seville"; and emblematic figures such as the Esperanza de Triana, Esperanza Macarena and Cristo del Cachorro. They will be joined by three patron saints of the province: Our Lady of Setefilla (Lora del Río), Our Lady of Valme (Dos Hermanas) and Our Lady of Consolation (Utrera).
This parade of faith and tradition will travel through the streets of Seville's capital, consolidating the link between city and province by means of a shared spiritual and artistic heritage.
The Order of the Magna
The Magna Procession of Seville will begin on 7 December at 15:00 hours with the departure of the Our Lady of Hope of Trianafollowed an hour later by The Puppy. The other images will then be added in the order provided: Virgen de los Reyes, Gran Poder, Virgen de Setefilla, Virgen de Valme, Virgen de Consolación, El Cachorro and finally, The Macarena. The processions will continue until 4:50 hours from 9 Decemberwhen collecting the Esperanza Macarena.
The Legacy of Devotion
Each of the images participating in the Magna has a rich history to tell. From the link of the Virgin of Valme with Ferdinand III to the miracles attributed to the Our Lady of ConsolationThese figures are much more than works of sacred art: they are living symbols of the faith and the identity of their communities.
The closing procession of the II International Congress of Brotherhoods and Guilds will undoubtedly be a milestone in the religious history of Seville. This extraordinary event will allow Sevillians and visitors to experience the intensity of the devotion up close, in a day that will unite past and present under the gaze of the most beloved images of the city and its province.
