It all began in May 1561, when a squadron of 23 Turkish and Algerian ships arrived off the coast of Mallorca with the intention of sacking the town of S\u00f3ller. However, the island's viceroy, informed of the possible attack, organised an unexpected defence that would end up being key in the outcome of the battle.\u00a0<\/p><p>In the early morning of 11 May, the corsairs disembarked at Ses Puntes. They advanced divided at various points in the valley, but they did not count on the fact that the Sollerics were already prepared. From there they set off for battle while Captain Angelats commended himself to the Mare de D\u00e9u de la Vict\u00f2ria and uttered his famous cry:\u00a0<em>\"A la lluita sollerics!\"<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p><p>The public, local and visiting, can follow the different phases of the battle by moving between the port and the village. The first skirmish takes place on the\u00a0<strong>Can Gener\u00f3s Beach<\/strong>where the pirates attempt to land. Tension mounts in the\u00a0<strong>Repic Beach<\/strong>where the Saracens managed to advance to the\u00a0<strong>Pont d'en Barona<\/strong>The key point in the defence of the people.\u00a0<\/p><p>Along the route, the streets are filled with music, gunpowder and cheers. The most emotional moment arrives with the appearance of the\u00a0<strong>Les Valentes Dones<\/strong>two Solleriques sisters who managed to kill their attackers to defend their home.
