This year 2025, the processions return from the 11 to 20 Apriloffering residents and visitors the opportunity to experience one of Mallorca's most emblematic celebrations.

Origin and history of Easter Week in Palma

The Easter in the city has its origins in the procession of the Holy Christ of the Bloodone of the most venerated images on the island. There are historical records that show that the Holy Thursday procession was already being held in 1554 and that the image of the Santo Cristo de la Sangre was accompanied by its own brotherhood. Furthermore, the General Hospital, founded in 1456 with the authorisation of Pope Calixtus III, became the place where the image was venerated, consolidating itself as the basis of Holy Week in Palma. Since 1564, the image has presided over the Maundy Thursday Processionorganised by the Cofradía de la Sangre to collect alms for the hospital.
