Excavated into the rock, the theatre takes advantage of the natural unevenness of the terrain for its construction. Dating from the 1st century AD, its structure includes key elements such as the cavea (the seats for the audience), the orchestra (the semi-circular area in front of the stage) and the stage (the space where the performances took place).\u00a0<\/p><p>Despite erosion and the passage of time, the theatre retains much of its original structure.
