El Rinconcillo

What is it?

The oldest bar in Seville, dating back to 1670, this tiny place is filled with dusty bottles and adorned with hams. No doubt a place frequented by tourists, it's still worth a visit to see the aproned waiters deftly serving tapas and fine ice cream.

Why go?

This bar, despite its popularity, has fiercely resisted all attempts at modernisation, and is one of the last places in town where the bill is written in chalk on the counter. Perfect for a glass of sherry and a wafer-thin plate of ham, it's also fun to see if you can get the famously brusque waiters to smile at you.
