Sant Sebastià Festivities 2025: Tradition and Music Take Over Palma de Mallorca

Every January, Palma de Mallorca is full of life, tradition and culture to pay homage to its patron saint, Sant Sebastià. This year 2025, from 13 to 28 JanuaryThe city prepares to offer a festive programme full of events that combine the best of music, gastronomy and Mallorcan customs. The streets of the historic centre are transformed into a unique setting where locals and visitors alike enjoy days of celebration that highlight the essence of this vibrant city.

La Revetlla de Sant Sebastià: The Most Magic Night

The most eagerly awaited event of the festive season is, without doubt, the revetlla de Sant Sebastiàwhich is held on the evening of 19 January. That night, Palma becomes a festival of fire and music. The main squares of the city are filled with foguerons (bonfires) around which families and friends gather to torrar (grilling) traditional Mallorcan sausages, such as sobrasada and butifarrones.

In the heat of the bonfires, the atmosphere is filled with music thanks to the numerous concerts that take place on different stages throughout the city. Bands and artists of various genres turn the streets into a real party, perfect for those looking for a unique experience under the stars.

The Origin of the Festival: History and Devotion

The festival of Sant Sebastià has a origin deeply rooted in the history of Palma. He was proclaimed patron saint of the city after the miraculous end of the plague of 1523 and 1524, attributed to the arrival of a relic of the saint from Rhodes. Since then, the city has honoured his memory with these celebrations full of symbolism and tradition.

In addition, fire, the central element of the festival, is linked to the ancient Mallorcan tradition of the PIG KILLINGS in winter, a practice that gave rise to the preparation of the island's famous sausages, the undisputed protagonists of the torradas during the festivities.

The Novelty of 2025: Music and Late Night in the Plaza de Cort

This year, the festival features a very special new feature: a tardeo with live music on 20 January in the emblematic Cort Square. From 18:00, a DJ and a live concert will liven up the evening, offering a different experience for those looking to celebrate in a more relaxed way. In addition, the Plaza Major will be another focal point with musical performances attracting hundreds of visitors.

The Spectacular Correfoc and the Drac de na Coca

The Correfocone of the most eagerly awaited events, puts the finishing touch to the festivities. This parade of Dimonis (demons) and fireworks fill the streets of Palma with an incomparable energy.
